I don't need to add much to the memorial of a very tragic day in the history of America, the world, and mankind.

I mourn the loss of so many remarkable lives that day, and simply offer the hope that we remain vigilant in our mission as a nation.

We offer the world our people, our traditions and our achievements.

We are not perfect, but we offer something better, something superior, and must endure a fight with those who want to bring us and the world to their submission.  We are the forces of freedom, of science, of technology, of medicine, of secularism, and we fight against those of primitivism, of hatred, of dhimmitude and darkness.

Never forget that, nor the lives we lost on this day five years ago to those who seek to harm us.

President Bush's September 20, 2001 Address to Congress
