The Complete List: 2007 D-IA vs Non-DIA Games

Thanks to reader Matthew Edmunson who sent this along:

I have looked high and low for a complete Non-conference Division I Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-A) game schedule and a schedule listing the games between the Division I Bowl Subdivision and Division I Championship Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-AA), but couldn't find anything on the web.

So, I used Peter Wolfe's info, and wrote some code to output the schedule from it.  I am pretty sure it is accurate, but it would be nice if you could post it on your site and allow it the scrutiny of your readership to make sure there is nothing missing or inaccurate.  Do with it what you want, and let me know if you find anything wrong on it.   We should thank Peter Wolfe for the original data.

Neutral and Semi-neutral games are also treated specially, as they are listed as "vs" and the location of the game is given, and it is based on his original list.  Certain games, like "Minnesota vs Florida Atlantic in Miami FL", is slightly confusing, being as FAU (Boca Raton, FL) is much closer to Miami than the University of Minnesota, but I still left it as is.

Enjoy!

Shame on all competent D-IA members who grace the list below.

I don't share your same disdain over FBS teams playing FCS teams. Sure, Florida has every right to be scrutinized for playing a very bad FCS team (W. Carolina) in November, but Navy playing the eventual FCS runner up (UMass) is an awesome game in September to use an example from last season. There are some very strong FCS programs out there, and considering the CAA North is probably just as good as the MAC East, I don't see what all the fuss is, especially when it's a non-elite team playing an FCS team.

By the way, WKU is a transitioning FBS team, so I don’t think you can count them as a FCS team seeing as they play as many FBS teams as FCS teams.

Hey, hey, hey there! I wouldn't say that. Either way you look at it, Bowling Green, Kent State, or Akron would be obvious frontrunners for the FCS title.

Aside from my homeristic rant ( :) ), I am surprised that Michigan and Ohio State have 1-AA teams on the slate. I don't think they ever have before and the Big 10, at least it seemed to me, never scheduled FCS teams with that much regularity. I'm kind of disappointed but when you look at it, Appalachian State is probably as good as a team like Tulane, Syracuse, or San Diego State. Western Carolina, like you mentioned Adam, is a terrible football team.

JMU is only a 12 point dog at UNC. It will be a close game...

Regarding Michigan vs Appalachian St, common thinking amongst the Wolverine contingent is that this was a last minute scheduling need and that a D I-A opponent could not be found or was not willing to travel to Ann Arbor. And yes, this is the first time since the advent of I-A and I-AA that Michigan will have played a I-AA team.

I scraped the full schedule from Statfox and put it in grid format which makes it easy to compare teams or weeks at a glance.

At least those teams playing Western Kentucky are only half guilty...the Hilltoppers are entering the first of a two-year transition into the FBS...then it's off to the Sun Belt Conference?! C-USA??

Is it really that bad for MAC and Sun Belt teams to play 1AA schools? They need to find some non conference wins somewhere. And I would like to ditto the WKU Comments.
