College Football Forum > Need playoff system, now!.

I love to talk college football (CF) just any other fan but every time i hear the letters "BCS" it just makes me cringe!. I know that the bowl system has tradition, that it's the american way, that it generates revenue for non-profit organizations, etc, etc, but those people who defend the bowl system are the people who mislead us to believe that the BCS is more like the Red Cross but it's actually more like FEMA and they seem to justify themselves by quoting some top personalities in CF (http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfb/background), but we must understand that the AP Poll was introduced as a way to declare de national champion in the late 30's because travel logistics in those days where out of reach for most colleges and the bowl games where created for regional teams to have some sort of postseason play but now every team has the capacity to move everywhere in the country and there enough bowl games to keep one's eye glued to the TV, so there are all the elements to create a simple playoff format who is better suited for today's game and every team has a chance to compite for the national championship, instead we always here the same teams "competing" for the ultimate trophy and thus creating an elite's circle that practically no one can enter but them (e.g. USC), therefore all the money generated in the CF system goes only to a handful of teams, don't get me wrong but it's not fair to other good teams like Boise State who have a snowball's chance in hell of being in the championship game. The BCS formula it's so complicating that you need a BA in math, I still don't understand it, and it's ridiculous to state that the best team shall be proven on the field while in CF reality it's proven on a COMPUTER!. It's just ridiculous!. The reality is that the people running the BCS don't want to share the revenues with the rest of the football teams, it's not about the tradition or the well-being of the student-athlete, it's about the money. The funny thing is that if they implement a playoff system using the bowl sites that would generate more revenue, more interest, more fan base, more stories, more of everything in today's world. In conclusion, a playoff system in CF Div-I would be great for everyone!, and let's make a new tradition, the playoff tradition!. (And december will be called something like: "Dramatic December!"... just kidding, someone will come up with a better name).
